Three adults and 13 youth were present. The tour included a description of studio equipment, music, philosophy and operation. March 31, 2007 Mike Hagstrom, Program Director, gave a tour to a Cub Scout pack from Plattsmouth, NE. Four adults and 6 youth were present. September 30, 2007 Paul Coate, Operations Manager, gave a tour of the KVNO studio to a Boy Scout troop. Five adults and fifteen boy scouts were present. Initiative 3: Provide training to management level personnel as to methods of ensuring equal employment opportunity and preventing discrimination. The University of Nebraska’s Assistant to the Chancellor for Diversity and Equal Opportunity conducts an all day seminar several times during the year entitled Pathways to Harmony. “Pathways to Harmony’s mission is to nurture a harmonious University community characterized by awareness, integrity, cooperation, and mutual respect through open and constructive dialogue among ALL people.” Pathways to Harmony’s objectives are” to provide exercises for constructive dialogue focusing on human relations issues pertinent to the UNO campus and community, to enhance respectful relationships/collegiality and celebrate diversity, and to encourage individual action/participation to address/interrupt insensitive behavior.” Patti Aroneseno, Development Assistant, attended Pathways to Harmony on October 16, 2007 September 20, 2006 – Pathways to Harmony Attended by Anne Hellbusch – Marketing Manager KVNO June 27, 2006 – Pathways to Harmony Attended by Marge Chiappone – Business Assistant February 22, 2006 – Pathways to Harmony 9-3:30 Attended by Kim Balkovec – Membership Manager KVNO Initiative 4: Establishment of training programs designed to enable station personnel to acquire skills that could qualify them for higher level positions. In the fall of 2007, Patti Aroneseno attended two University of Nebraska at Omaha IT training sessions. One was on web development software and the other was Adobe Photoshop. KVNO managers are encouraged and do attend professional development conferences. The following conferences were attended by KVNO personnel: Public Broadcasting Management Association (PBMA) Business Manager, Public Radio Program Directors (PRPD)Music Director, News and Public Affairs Director, Public Radio Development Marketing Conference (PRDMC) Membership Manager and Marketing Manager.
