Artist Todd McCollister Blends Art and Design
November 5th, 2024
Artist Todd McCollister has taken his woodworking skills to new heights by crafting custom projects for clients, blending practical design with his artistic vision to create furniture and sculptures that are both functional and creative.
Balancing his time between furniture-making and sculpture, McCollister has honed a distinct style that evolves with each project, reflecting his journey through various stages of life. His work captures resonant themes, with each piece drawing on form and material to tell a story.
Notably, his sculpture collections, “Long Shadows” and “Open Book,” have earned praise for their depth and transparency. “Long Shadows” explores intricate perspectives, while “Open Book” captures a sense of openness and honesty, inviting viewers to see through the art to something deeper.
McCollister’s work is currently on display at the Lied Art Gallery at Creighton University, where visitors can view his sculptures and furniture through Nov. 24. While working on a new project he describes as “significant” to his career, McCollister remains tight-lipped about its details, hinting that the project will be revealed soon.
