Love, Loss, and Paris: Scott Carpenter in Conversation with Jeffrey Koterba

October 14th, 2024

Scott Carpenter, a seasoned professor, and author from Minnesota, is opening up about his journey of loss and healing in his latest book, “Paris Lost and Found: A Memoir of Love.” The book details Carpenter’s painful experience of losing his wife, who suffered from dementia in her final days, and the ways he navigated grief through the years that followed.

In the memoir, Carpenter reflects on moments shared with his wife and recounts his time spent between the Midwest and Paris, a city that became central to his healing process. His connection to France, which spans many years, allowed him to explore new places and find solace amidst his grief.

Carpenter will be in Omaha on Friday, October 18, to discuss his book in a public conversation with local cartoonist and writer Jeffrey Koterba at The Bookworm. In collaboration with Alliance Française, the event will offer a deeper look into the author’s poignant journey of love and loss.
