The UNO Symphonic Wind Ensemble is excited to collaborate with the Gretna High School Wind Ensemble in a shared concert on March 5, 2024. In addition to Gretna’s selections, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble will be performing a diverse and exciting program of transcriptions and original works for winds composed over the past 100 years. The concert, titled “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something…” will conclude with a riveting 100th Anniversary performance of George Gershwin’s iconic RHAPSODY IN BLUE featuring UNO Associate Professor of Piano and Keyboard Area Coordinator, Dr. Kristín Jónína Taylor, and UNO’s clarinet professor, Dr. Season Cowley.

The UNO Bands also welcome Dr. Adam Fontana as a special guest conductor on the late Ron Nelson’s exciting and effervescent piece Lauds. Dr. Fontana serves as Director of Bands at SUNY New Paltz in New York and is completing a multi-day residency in the UNO School of Music wind band and conducting programs leading up to the performance.

PARKING: There is open parking (no permit required) after 7:00 p.m. across the Dodge Campus, including all surface lots and the East and West Garages. Click here for more details including a campus map.
