Throughout 2022, KVNO is bringing you a monthly Arts@830 series that celebrates the first 50 years of KVNO and interviews the people who did — and will — make it happen. Listen to their conversations below.
Dean Michael Hilt
Dean Michael Hilt is the Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Media at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He once served as KVNO’s General Manager and has always been a fan. Sherry Kennedy Brownrigg interviewed Dean Hilt about the role KVNO – a community outreach of UNO – plays on the campus of the UNO.
Dave Ogden + Norm Herzog
Dave Ogden and Norm Herzog worked at KVNO in the early days of our existence and have great tales from those days.
KVNO Morning Show Hosts Over the Years
Before Otis Twelve, there was Frank Bramhall, Dale Munson and Scott Blankenship, three KVNO morning show hosts who made a big impact on KVNO listeners. We hear from all three of them in this special 50th anniversary Arts@830.
Tom Becka and the Magic of Radio
Tom Becka was only a student when he worked at KVNO, but he has fond memories of his time here. Our thanks to Jeff Koterba for recording this interview and Gabriel Escalera for producing.
Otis Twelve – a Timeless Treasure
We can’t have an anniversary interview series without Otis Twelve! In this interview, Otis waxes philosophically about working at KVNO, the music and you, the listener.
KVNO Metro Arts Showcase
KVNO is featuring special programs on August 27th, our actual anniversary, that put the focus on the arts community in Omaha. Sherry Kennedy Brownrigg talks to the hosts and producers of the programs to give you a taste of what these great programs hold for listeners.
KVNO commissioned noted young composer and former KVNO Classical Kid Winston Schneider to write a work for our 50th Anniversary. “Anniversary Overture” had its world premiere at the Omaha Symphony’s season opener September 23 and 24.
