Born to Polish parents in what is today Lviv, Ukraine, Emanuel Ax moved to Winnipeg, Canada, with his family when he was a young boy. Mr. Ax made his New York debut in the Young Concert Artists Series, and in 1974 won the first Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Tel Aviv. In 1975 he won the Michaels Award of Young Concert Artists, followed four years later by the Avery Fisher Prize.

Still in his mid-twenties, Elliott has appeared with orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Detroit Symphony and the Dallas Symphony, working with noted conductors including Yannick Nezet-Seguin, Thomas Wilkins, Jeffrey Kahane, and Mei Ann Chen, among others.

TY and Strauss met at The Juilliard School and soon discovered their chemistry not only as friends but in music-making. ArcoStrum is committed to pushing boundaries and redefining the 21st-century violin-guitar art form, presenting a new chamber music that is mixed-genre, multi-cultural, and cross-era. A passionate performer noted for her “great expressive tone and range” (Christopher Caliendo, composer) and her “…capacity to reveal the deep soul of a composition” (Martin Rokeach, composer), she has performed extensively across North America, South America and Europe, including 18 conventions of the National Flute Association and 3 British Flute Society International Conventions, and regularly serves as a guest artist on the international flute festival circuit, most recent of which includes the International Piccolo Festival (Italy), the Zodiac Festival (France), and the Puerto Rico Flute Festival. Her 2025 engagements included festivals and concerts in Costa Rica, Canada, Japan, and across the USA in AR, KS, MI, NE, TX.

Throughout the United States, Central America, Spain, and China, audiences have embraced the Texas Guitar Quartet for their daring programs, dazzling virtuosity and joyful music making. Recent highlights include performances for the Encuentro Internacional de Guitarra 2016 (Nicaragua), Victoria Bach Festival, Guitar Foundation of America Convention, Festival Internacional del Noreste (Mexico), and Texas Music Festival. During the summer of 2015, the quartet presented a series of concerts in historic cathedrals along the Camino de Santiago, Spain.
