A Christmas Carol Takes the Stage at Omaha Community Playhouse

November 20th, 2023

Omaha Community Playhouse is ready to showcase their annual production of A Christmas Carol, a long-standing tradition that has become a favorite for the metro community. This year marks the 48th production of A Christmas Carol at OCP, with the very first production being showcased in the 70s.

Susan Baer Collins is the Co-Artistic Director for the Omaha Community Playhouse. She says the original adaptation of A Christmas Carol made for OCP has continued to live up to its legacy after all this time. A Christmas Carol has even traveled beyond the OCP stage.

The show is designed to be appealing to viewers of all ages, giving families the ability to enjoy it together. While most of the actors on stage perform in multiple roles during the show, it’s part of the tradition for one person to take on the task of becoming the main character, Ebenezer Scrooge.

Planning for this year’s production of A Christmas Carol began in August, with rehearsals starting in October. Collins says there is a large group of people working extremely hard to put this show together so the audience can just have a great time.

A Christmas Carol opens on November 17 and runs through December 23. OCP invites everyone to come be part of this spectacular community tradition. For more information about tickets and showtimes, visit omahaplayhouse.com.
