Actress Makes First Lofte Community Theatre Debut in Cinderella
July 24th, 2026
Marking the halfway point of the Lofte Community Theatre’s 50th season, its upcoming romantic fantasy production, Cinderella, is taking the stage. The production features the original Rodgers and Hammerstein version of the classic Cinderella tale, complete with the beloved songs from the 1957 television adaptation. This love-at-first-sight story transcends generations of Cinderella fans and audiences alike. Director Kevin Colbert says, “It’s absolutely the golden age of music theater… but, you know, the people that have seen it so far over the opening weekend, they all know the songs.”
Featuring a cast of 25 performers, the Lofte Community Theatre welcomes new faces and fresh talent to its stage. Kaitlyn Severson, who previously starred in Chanticleer Community Theatre’s production of Oklahoma! earlier this summer, plays Cinderella in this adaptation. Colbert says, “[Kaitlyn] is fabulous. She does a great job. She’s adorable in the role. Her acting ability and her instincts are very strong, and her voice is just gorgeous.”
The production also offers meet-and-greet opportunities for children attending Saturday performances. Before each Saturday show, audiences can meet the characters from Cinderella, giving families a chance to interact with the fairy-tale cast before the performance begins. “Now they get the opportunity to meet the characters, give Cinderella a hug, and see the story come to life,” Colbert says.
The Lofte Community Theatre’s production of Cinderella runs through Aug. 2. More information is available at lofte.org.
