Council Bluffs to Host Free Hollywood Bowl Watch Party
June 22nd, 2026
A century after the Tabernacle Choir first performed at the Hollywood Bowl, a free outdoor watch party will bring the anniversary concert to the Omaha metro.
The event is set for Friday, June 26, at Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park in Council Bluffs, where a large LED screen and sound system will broadcast the Hollywood Bowl performance to the public. Admission is free and open to everyone.
Local organizer Cheyenne Robertson said the evening is designed to be more than a viewing party.
“We will have a huge LED screen and a great big PA system, and there’ll be a great community event surrounding that performance,” Robertson said. “It’s a warm summer evening at the riverfront in Council Bluffs.”
The Hollywood Bowl concert features the Tabernacle Choir with guest artists Donny Osmond, David Foster and Katharine McPhee. The performance marks the 100th anniversary of the choir’s original Hollywood Bowl debut and is being broadcast to audiences around the world.
In Council Bluffs, the evening will also include food trucks, family activities and a community service project. Attendees will assemble hygiene kits for Heartland Family Service and Youth Emergency Services, with supplies being collected in advance through an Amazon wish list.
“We’re hoping to have several thousand that evening,” Robertson said of the kits.
Food trucks on site will donate a portion of their proceeds to the two organizations.
The event is organized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but is open to the public regardless of affiliation.
“It’s completely free, and anyone in Nebraska can come,” Robertson said.
Robertson said pairing a concert broadcast with a community service project reflects something she believes music is uniquely positioned to do.
“I think if there’s anything that unifies people, it’s the arts,” she said. “They make connections and touch hearts and minds greater than almost anything else.”
The watch party runs from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 26, at Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park, 4200 Avenue B in Council Bluffs. The concert broadcast begins at 7 p.m. The event is free, and no registration is required. More information at: Special performance of the world-renowned Tabernacle Choir.
