Omaha Children’s Museum Plans New Home on the Riverfront

February 2nd, 2025

The Omaha Children’s Museum is looking ahead to a new home along the Riverfront.

The museum has been a fixture on South 20th Street for decades, welcoming generations of metro-area children. Its iconic, colorful building was originally a car dealership, and the organization has long been planning to build a permanent home.

KVNO sat down with Andrew Mattson, vice president of marketing and communication at the Omaha Children’s Museum, to discuss the museum’s plans for the move.

The new facility will be a custom-designed children’s museum created by the same firm behind the Joslyn Art Museum’s expansion. The new location is expected to open in late 2027.

More information about the project is available at www.ocmriverfront.org.
