Omaha Fringe Festival Uplifts New Artists
August 4th, 2026
Kicking off the month of August is an exhibition of new theatrical works across the Omaha metro area. The Omaha Fringe Festival is an annual variety show that provides a platform for local playwrights, performers, and artists to present their original works. Featuring 20 different hour-long acts, this year’s Omaha Fringe Festival presents a wide range of comedies, dance performances, and other productions.
Lara Marsh, executive artistic director of the Omaha Fringe Festival, says, “They are all new works. They are not published. So, this is key to aspiring artists trying to launch a new work off the ground or something they are passionate about.”
Now in its eighth year, the festival has become a staple of the Omaha arts community. Marsh spoke about the growth she has seen over the years. From expanding its board to receiving more than 40 submissions from 11 states, the Omaha Fringe Festival has gained regional recognition while helping grow Omaha’s pool of artistic talent.
Marsh says, “I have started, for my own personal goals and tasks, to look toward longevity.”
One of the key aspects of the festival is discoverability, whether it is helping emerging artists gain recognition or giving audiences the chance to discover new works. From pen to stage, the Omaha Fringe Festival creates opportunities for artists to share their work.
The Omaha Fringe Festival will feature 20 new shows across four venues from Aug. 6 through Aug. 9. More information can be found at omahafringe.org.
