PTP: Ted Lasso Returns for Season Four With a Midwest Connection
August 13th, 2026
We’re in that seasonal lull between World Cup football and American football, but sports fans have something to look forward to. Ted Lasso is back for a fourth season on Apple TV.
The feel-good sitcom follows Ted Lasso, an American college football coach who travels to London to manage AFC Richmond, a struggling English Premier League soccer team.
The series originally wrapped up in 2023 after three seasons. But fan demand, along with existing contractual options, opened the door for co-creators Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt to continue the story.
The return brings back many of the characters audiences grew attached to, along with the show’s signature themes of optimism, community, kindness and forgiveness.
Those themes are at the heart of what has made Ted Lasso so popular. The series imagines what can happen when leadership values understanding and connection alongside competition and winning.
The new season also has a strong Midwest connection.
Sudeikis, who grew up in Kansas City, brought his hometown into the new season. The first episode features several recognizable Kansas City locations, including Gates Bar-B-Q, Country Club Plaza and CPKC Stadium.
Rachel Kephart, director of the Kansas City Film Office, has even used Ted Lasso as a case study when promoting Kansas City as a destination for major film and television productions.
The new season also has an Omaha connection. Film professional Cody Jones worked on the episode as a Digital Imaging Technician. Viewers can spot his name in the credits.
For longtime fans, the return of Ted Lasso offers another chance to revisit a world built around optimism and community. And for those who have never watched, there may be no better time to start at the beginning.
