UNO Bands Hosts 7th Annual Conducting Workshop

May 27th, 2025

Motivating conductors to refine their technique and aspire toward mastery in the art of musical direction is central to the professional growth of any band director. The University of Nebraska at Omaha Bands’ annual conducting workshop offers a valuable opportunity for that development, and takes pride in doing so.

The workshop has evolved over the years, a quality that Joshua Kearney, Director of Bands at UNO, says makes the experience unique for participants each time.

This year’s event, held May 29 at the Strauss Performing Arts Center on UNO’s Dodge campus, will feature a full day of activities, including panel discussions with guest clinicians. Among the returning guests is Ann Davis, retired teaching and learning consultant for Omaha Public Schools and current adjunct faculty member in music education at UNO.

Guest clinicians bring essential new perspectives to the art of conducting, contributing to a rich and varied learning environment.

The workshop offers three participation tracks: professional or graduate, undergraduate, and observer. It serves as a true collaboration of musicianship throughout the Omaha community.
