A Prairie Dog in the City

May 15th, 2025

As a cartoonist, I often like to take a step back from drawing people. Not to mention, I love finding new and unique ways to show the reader something familiar, but through the eyes of, say, an animal. Especially one who has suddenly found himself outside of his original habitat.

Such is the case with this comic.

Enjoy!

A comic showing a prairie dog who has come to Omaha. He's chatting with his bird friend named, Bertie. They go around Omaha talking about how much there is to do in town...like visiting the Old Market and going to dinner. The prairie dog talks about how he loves the grasslands of the prairie but how Omaha also has lots of green space. But then he jokes that he needs to find a human to take him for a walk. Bertie thinks: "who's going to tell him that he's not a real dog?"

This comic originally appeared in Omaha Magazine.
