Looking Ahead with Excitement

January 14th, 2024

I’m a sucker for “Best of” lists and thoroughly enjoy reflecting on the accomplishments and events of the past year when heading into a new one.

That has been particularly fun at KVNO. 2023 was a banner year, with Otis Twelve finally inducted into the Nebraska Broadcaster’s Hall of Fame (overdue? Absolutely!), I moved into the General Manager chair (for the record – I sit in the same chair I always have), we were a part of a number of wonderful events, and KVNO’s community support increased (thank you!). I could go on, but at the risk of being the person showing you her vacation photos, it’s best you read our Year End Review at KVNO.org.

I also love looking forward to the possibilities that a new year holds, and for KVNO, the possibilities are exciting. The world is wonderful, crazy and constantly changing, so like every organization, we plan but leave room for unforeseen events and opportunities that we simply can’t pass up. While two of our three strategic goals – growing our audience and increasing donations and managing expenses – focus on the future health of KVNO, our most important goal is serving the incredible community in which we all live.

The first way we serve the metro area is to support the arts. KVNO believes that a strong arts community increases the quality of life for everyone, including our children, and KVNO plans to roll out new ways to increase our support in 2024.

Secondly, the bread and butter of KVNO’s mission is to elevate your life and our community by providing uplifting classical music presented by knowledgeable, friendly hosts who actually live right here in the metro area. We’ll be out and about this year at a number of community events, so please stop and say hello when you see us – there’s nothing we love more than meeting you!

I encourage you to read the 2023 Year in Review on our website – it’s full of fun facts and things you may not have known about KVNO (wait until you read how many countries we reached with our app). And now, hold on for what’s ahead. 2024 may be one of those years where seat belts weren’t optional, but you can always count on one thing – KVNO will be here to uplift and provide a respite, no matter what is happening in the world.

So, cheers to 2024! And thank you for helping us to truly be Omaha’s Classical Radio.
