Omaha’s House of Afros, Capes, & Curls Presents its Annual Black Fae Day
Black Fae Day Celebration of Fantasy and Community at Miller Park
(Omaha, NE) — On May 9, Miller Park will become a space of imagination and cultural
celebration as The House of Afros, Capes & Curls presents Black Fae Day.
Black Fae Day is an immersive, outdoor event that centers Black creativity within
fantasy and folklore. Blending Afrofuturism, community gathering, and artistic
expression, the event invites attendees to explore what it means to see Blackness fully
realized in magical and imagined worlds.
Guests are encouraged to attend in costume as fae—fairies, forest spirits, celestial
beings— elves, hobbits, wizards, or to simply come and experience the atmosphere.
The event will feature local vendors, interactive activities, and curated photo spaces
designed to evoke a sense of wonder and belonging. Adding to the enchantment, a
glam squad from Glamour Haus will offer magical makeup and shimmering glitter, along
with whimsical hair pieces available for purchase.
“Black Fae Day creates space for imagination as a cultural practice,” organizers share.
“It is about visibility, joy, and the power of seeing ourselves reflected in worlds we
create.”
The event is free, family-friendly and open to the public.
