Omaha Film Festival Academy: Cultivating Future Filmmakers
February 28th, 2024
The 19th edition of the Omaha Film Festival kicked off yesterday with great enthusiasm. Executive Director Marc Longbrake shared his excitement for showcasing a diverse lineup of 98 films, spanning narrative features, short films, documentaries, and screenplays, featuring both international and local talents.
One film capturing considerable attention this year is Christine Burright’s project, drawing interest from festival attendees.
“The Headliner,” first introduced to the public in 2018, holds roots that stretch back much further than its debut suggests.
As the festival progresses throughout the week, audiences can look forward to a wide array of screenings, including narrative features, short films, documentaries, and screenplays. Yet, what sets this festival apart is the profound impact of “The OFF Academy,” providing invaluable opportunities for aspiring young filmmakers.
Burright emphasizes that the academy program fosters important skills in collaboration and teamwork among students.
Screenings for the 2024 Omaha Film Festival will continue through Sunday, featuring “The OFF Academy” on Thursday and Friday and the Writers Theater on Sunday. KVNO’s sponsorship adds to the excitement, with Jeff Koterba leading a Q&A session.
