‘Share Omaha’ Empowers Community Action During National Volunteer Week
April 22nd, 2024
As National Volunteer Week approaches, communities nationwide prepare to unite in service. Omaha, too, eagerly joins the cause with “Do Good Days” led by Share Omaha.
During these four days, Share Omaha facilitates connections between volunteers and local nonprofits, fostering support in various forms. Regardless of one’s availability or skill set, opportunities abound for all to contribute meaningfully.
Teresa Mardesen, Executive Director of Share Omaha, holds optimistic expectations for this initiative, buoyed by the community’s proven dedication to helping others.
Since its inception in 2019, Share Omaha has served as a vital hub, providing a user-friendly platform for volunteers and donors to engage with local nonprofits. With 642 organizations, 522 volunteer opportunities, and nearly 3000 products available for direct donation, the impact potential is immense.
Mardesen underscores Share Omaha’s commitment to simplifying community support through its website, ShareOmaha.org. Here, users can refine their search for volunteer opportunities by schedule, type, and interest area, with specialized options tailored for parents seeking family-friendly activities.
The range of giving options is extensive, with 94 requests from Arts & Culture organizations alone. “Do Good Days” kicks off this Wednesday, April 24th, and concludes on Saturday, April 27th. For further details, visit shareomaha.org.
