Old School Shakespeare in The Heart of Omaha

July 29th, 2024

Did you understand Shakespeare’s plays in high school? For many, “Romeo and Juliet” was confusing, perhaps because we never saw it performed as originally intended.

Hannah Clark, a member of Old School Shakespeare Omaha, is part of a theater company dedicated to making Shakespeare’s work accessible to everyone. Now in its third year, this group is known for performing in unconventional venues, like local bars.

The audience is encouraged to come and go during shows, shout at the actors, or even join in on the acts. This interactive approach has won the theater company significant community acceptance, with performances at places like the Benson Theater.

Old School Shakespeare Omaha has two remaining shows of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” this week: Wednesday at Alice Cocktail Bar and Friday at Site-1 Brewing. More details can be found on their social media page.
