The Joy of Drinking Coffee Outside in Autumn
October 24th, 2024
It’s fall which means it’s time to snuggle up indoors with a pumpkin spice latte, right? That depends. For me, I prefer an espresso in autumn…outdoors.
Yes, temperatures can be a bit cooler if not downright chilly, but that’s the point. There’s just something so cozy about throwing on a hoodie or jacket and sipping your favorite warm beverage on one of the many coffee shop patios in the Omaha area. To my taste buds, the crisp air somehow works its magic on coffee in a way that the heat of summer just can’t.
Taking a coffee outside also allows me to imagine that perhaps I’m sitting on the terrace of a Parisian café. I’ve only spent time in France in cooler weather, so maybe that’s the true reason I love drinking coffee outside in fall.
Truth be told, however, unless snow is piled on the table and chairs, I’ve even been known to have my coffee outside in the dead of winter. But let’s not jump ahead that far just yet.
For now, why not enjoy your next beverage outside, taking in the falling leaves falling in all their colorful glory as the little trail of steam from your drink rises up like magic? And if you still prefer your warm beverage inside—maybe just give me a little wave and try not to giggle if you see me all bundled in a parka.
But hey, if you do enjoy your coffee outside in autumn, you’re in luck. There’s no shortage of coffee shop terraces in our area. And truth be told, if you have a coffee patio and I haven’t yet stopped by, there’s a good chance I will in the near future. For now, in no particular order, are my Top Ten Coffee Patios in the Omaha metro.
