Chicago Cabaret Trio for Holiday Show
December 10th, 2024
The Omaha Community Playhouse is offering a festive treat this holiday season with a special performance outside of its regular lineup. The show, Girls Like Us: A Little Naughty, Mostly Nice!, features the Chicago cabaret trio of Marianne Murphy-Orland, Laura Freeman, and Beckie Menzie.
Murphy-Orland, one-third of the group, shared that the idea for Girls Like Us began 15 years ago in Chicago, a city renowned for its cabaret scene. The trio discovered their voices blended so beautifully that it inspired them to create a series of performances.
Over the years, Girls Like Us has produced seven shows, earning recognition not only in Chicago but also across the U.S. Their seamless harmonies often leave audiences guessing who’s singing at any given moment. Despite their experience, Murphy-Orland says each performance feels unique, as the group thrives on the energy and reactions of the audience.
This holiday season, the trio will perform beloved classics like How the Grinch Stole Christmas, O Holy Night, and Merry Christmas, Darling.
Girls Like Us: A Little Naughty, Mostly Nice! runs at the Omaha Community Playhouse through Dec. 22. For tickets and more information, visit omahaplayhouse.com.
