A French-language tribute to legendary singer-songwriter Jacques Brel comes to The Joslyn’s Abbott Hall this Sunday.
French Icon Jacques Brel Comes to Life in Musical Tribute at The Joslyn
April 30th, 2025
Step into the world of Jacques Brel, one of France’s most iconic musical storytellers, in a moving production performed entirely in French this Sunday at The Joslyn’s Abbott Hall.
Presented by Alliance Française of Omaha, the show offers a journey through the emotional and poetic lyrics that made Brel a global legend. Known for songs like “Ne Me Quitte Pas” and “Amsterdam,” Brel’s work explores themes of love, longing, and the human condition.
At the heart of the performance is singer-songwriter Katie Kasher, whose deep connection to both music and the French language began early in life. That passion led her to study French extensively and embrace singing in the language she loves. For Kasher, the beauty of music transcends linguistic boundaries.
“Music can cross any barrier,” Kasher said. “Even if someone doesn’t understand every word, they’ll feel the emotion.”
The one-day event takes place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, at the Joslyn Art Museum’s Abbott Hall. Tickets and additional details are available at afomaha.org.
