KANEKO to Host One-Night-Only Reception and Artist Talk with Jun Kaneko

July 9th, 2025

KANEKO art center invites the public to a one-night-only reception and artist talk featuring internationally acclaimed artist Jun Kaneko. The special event is part of the ongoing exhibition Beyond the Finishing Point.

According to KANEKO Executive Projects Manager Terra Hall, the exhibition offers a rare and personal glimpse into a creative collaboration long unseen by the public. “This exhibition is like opening a time capsule,” Hall said. “After all these years, this is the first time these collaborative pieces will be on display.”

The artwork featured in Beyond the Finishing Point stems from an extraordinary, years-long partnership between Kaneko and his collaborator, Anna. Over the course of two years, Anna took the role of decision-maker, determining when each piece was complete—a reversal of the traditional artist-assistant relationship.

“Anna taught Jun to consider a fundamental question: How do you know when a work is finished?” Hall added.

For one night only, Kaneko will revisit this collaboration, reflecting on the creative process and its lasting impact during an intimate artist talk and reception.

The event will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 10, KANEKO art center, located in downtown Omaha. The reception will be held inside the gallery where Beyond the Finishing Point is currently on display. The exhibition will remain open to the public through Oct. 8.
