Angels In America Cast Reprises Roles For The Final Part To Their Story

October 20th, 2025

Angels In America was a show produced last season by the Omaha Community Playhouse. The show followed many characters through their trials and tribulations during the 1980s aids epidemic. Though this story left audiences thinking, the story was not concluded yet. Until November 9th the Omaha Community Playhouse will be showing the sequel show, Angels In America Part 2: Perestroika. Director Brandon Box-Higdem says, “What we’ve been telling folks is that we did part 1 last fall, but you don’t necessarily have to have seen part 1 to be able to understand what is going on in part 2.”

This show, being a continuation of last season’s show, has presented itself with the unique opportunity of bringing the Angels In America cast back from part 1. This means that the actors will reprise their roles once again to continue the story and see it to its conclusion. Box-Higdem states, “This cast has been phenomenal to work with to see what made these characters tick at their core, but were also willing to try to go even farther.”

Director Box-Higdem also relates to the show on a personal level, as it has been career-defining because of his past shows. Though the piece is darker, it produces a message that we may choose to navigate our relationships, love, and the world however we may please. Box-Higdem finishes, stating, “…being a 50-year-old gay man having lived through the 80s and living through that shame and fear and guilt… yet it’s still that same very powerful story.”

Omaha Community Playhouse will be showing Angels In America Part 2: Perestroika until November 9th. More information can be found at omahaplayhouse.com.
