The world of theatre is one that deals in emotion, in inspiring heavy emotion within the viewer through delivering emotional dialogue. Each performance promises a wholly unique experience for both the actor and the audience member. Voices in Alliance is ready to deliver a performance exploring emotion and connection with their latest production “SKINTIGHT”, debuting March 4 at the Shelterbelt Theatre.

An intimate production, “SKINTIGHT”, written by Joshua Harmon, focuses on the intricate ties that bind loved ones. Actors Bill Hutson and Diane Watson play father-daughter duo Elliott Isaac and Jodi Isaac within the play. The play opens with Jodi coming to terms with her ex-husband’s engagement to a younger woman.

With her father’s upcoming 70th birthday, she decides to pay him a visit. After Jodi arrives at her father’s townhouse, she is surprised to find him with his twenty-year-old lover, Trey, who is the same age as her own son, Benjamin. Elliot, who was unaware of Jodi and Benjamin’s plans to visit, is equally surprised to see them.

Rather than focus on action, “SKINTIGHT” explores the complications and layers of
family through quickfire dialogue and vulnerability displayed through the character’s stories. A relatively new production, debuting off-Broadway in 2018, the play offers a fresh take on the many different types of ways that relationships can look like today.

“SKINTIGHT” will be performed at the Shelterbelt Theatre from March 4 through the 21st. Performances will run weeknights Wednesday through Friday beginning at 7 p.m. with Saturday performances at 2 p.m.
