A Few Good Men: A Military Drama Opening at the Lofte

Opening at the Lofte Community Theatre is its upcoming drama, A Few Good Men. Based on the Jack Nicholson movie of the same name, A Few Good Men follows the legal case surrounding a military murder and challenges audiences with the dilemma of whether loyalty justifies immoral actions. Kevin Colbert, director of A Few Good Men, says, “It’s important that society knows what it is that your military does, how they protect things. But how much do you really want to know?”

Being a much edgier piece taking to the Lofte stage, this show strives to be authentic while honoring military life. Consisting of a cast of 25 actors, with a few having previously served or currently serving in the military, A Few Good Men takes care to portray military protocol and hierarchy with the respect they deserve. “It’s been an interesting thing to learn and watch as well. And I thank those guys not only for their military service, but for helping us make the show as authentic as we possibly can,” says Colbert.

With complex moral layers woven throughout the plot and characters, this show asks difficult questions while also celebrating veterans and the military as a whole. Celebrating both the 250th birthday of the United States and 50 years of shows at the Lofte Community Theatre, Colbert concludes, “It’s time to make sure that we do these kinds of stories that we can celebrate, our nation, our military and the people who are involved.”
