Ballet Dancer Erica Lohman Takes on New Role in Her Career
August 5th, 2024
This summer, while taking a break from the American Midwest Ballet, professional ballet dancer Erica Lohman is diving into a personal project as a choreographic director. After establishing a career as a professional dancer, Lohman is now stepping up as a choreographic director at the Omaha Fringe Festival, which began in 2019. Her desire to direct something on her own came at the perfect time, as the festival organizers wanted to include more dance. Lohman is taking full creative control and showcasing her vision in a supportive and dynamic environment.
The Omaha Fringe Festival accepts all submissions and may choose participants by lottery, unlike juried festivals that select acts based on artistic qualities. These festivals are essential for independent artists to showcase original work. Lohman connected with some colleagues from Midwest America Ballet over the summer break to put this production together.
“Of Darkness and Dreams” has performances this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Weber Fine Arts Building Mainstage at UNO. For tickets and more information, visit Of Darkness and Dreams
