Artist Rodney Tague, founder of Clay Contours, turned his lifelong passion for pottery into a full-time career.
Clay Contours: The Art of Rodney Tague
August 18th, 2025
After nearly 30 years of crafting pottery as a hobby, self-taught ceramist Rodney Tague founded Clay Contours to share his love for the art form with others. His appreciation for the arts dates back to his adolescence.
Tague’s creative journey began with music. A lifelong drummer, he discovered early on that he loved expressing himself artistically. That passion for rhythm eventually led him to explore a new outlet: ceramics.
“All of my creativity has led me down the path of becoming a full-time ceramist,” Tague said.
When it comes to creating a piece, Tague said his imagination entirely guides the process. His goal is simple: to make and share art that others can enjoy.
Although he is both a ceramist and a musician, Tague says his most important title is “dad,” and I am proud to be his daughter. He has shared the gift of creativity and musicianship, and I’ve witnessed firsthand how my dad, Rodney Tague, becomes inspired by and always puts his family first, recognizing how important it is to have all of us by his side.
Tague frequently showcases his work at metro-area festivals, including the Taste of Omaha, Omaha Summer Arts Festival, and the Aksarben Village Farmers Market.
