Steven Spielberg returns to the big screen with Disclosure Day, a new extraterrestrial thriller about a whistleblower on the run after claiming evidence of alien life. Blending suspense and blockbuster spectacle, the film explores the global obsession with what—or who—might exist beyond Earth, featuring a cast that includes Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, and Colman Domingo.
That conversation continues with a companion screening of Spielberg’s 1977 classic Close Encounters of the Third Kind, a landmark sci-fi film about an ordinary man drawn into an extraordinary alien encounter and an overwhelming search for truth. Together, the two films reflect nearly 50 years of cinematic wonder about humanity’s most persistent question: Are we alone in the universe?
Disclosure Day screens in preview on Thursday, June 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Dundee Theater, with regular showtimes beginning June 12. Close Encounters of the Third Kind returns for special weekend screenings June 27–28 and July 4–5 at the Ruth Sokolof Theater.
