Elkhorn Community Theatre Presents Legally Blonde
June 23rd, 2026
Located on the western edge of the Omaha metropolitan area, Elkhorn Community Theatre is currently presenting its annual summer production. Dedicated to providing access to live theatre in the Elkhorn area, the company is taking the stage this year with its newest show, Legally Blonde.
The musical follows Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School in an effort to win back her ex-boyfriend. The story explores themes of women’s empowerment and self-discovery while encouraging audiences to stay true to themselves. Jack O’Connell, director of Legally Blonde, says, “What’s kind of amazing about it is Elle is this person who’s not what she appears to be at first glance.”
This production stands out from many other musicals by incorporating canine companions into the storytelling. With two different dogs joining the cast, they add an extra layer of charm to an already impressive performance. Playing Elle Woods is Noelani Howland, who takes audiences on an emotional journey while challenging female stereotypes often found in media.
The show’s design and overall aesthetic are especially evident in its wide variety of costumes and costume changes. With numerous onstage transformations and quick changes throughout the performance, the production highlights the many layers of Elle’s character, interests, and personal style. O’Connell adds, “It makes me so happy, and I think it’s going to work for everybody in the same kind of way.”
Elkhorn Community Theatre will present Legally Blonde through June 28. More information can be found at elkhorncommunitytheatre.org.
