Explore Creativity at KANEKO Gallery

January 6th, 2026

With the new year in full swing, the thrill of possibility brings with it an air of excitement to Omaha. For the flourishing local arts community, a new wave of creativity has just begun. KANEKO Gallery is gearing up for another year of exhibitions and events.

KANEKO Gallery’s current season includes the exhibitions, “Under The Skin” and “Jun Kaneko: Paintings & Prints”. “Under The Skin” features artwork that explores the human body from the Karen & Robert Duncan and Kathryn & Marc LeBaron collections. “June Kaneko: Paintings & Prints” features artwork from Jun Kaneko’s personal collection. Both exhibitions are available for the public to view now through March 22. Two events inspired by each exhibition, “Every Body Has a Story: A Night with Nebraska Writers Collective” and “Making a Mark: The Art of the Press with Howard Paine,” will accompany the art.

Inspired by the “June Kaneko: Paintings & Prints” exhibition, the “Making a Mark: The Art of the Press with Howard Paine,” event dives into both the history and process of printmaking on January 26 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Howard Paine, University of Nebraska Omaha professor and artist, will lead the interactive event through a lecture on the artistry of printmaking and perform live demonstrations. Guests of the event will be able to handle tools and pull a print of their own with Paine’s guidance.

Similarly inspired by the “Under The Skin” exhibition, KANEKO Gallery’s collaboration with Nebraska Writers Collective will include a night of live readings of original pieces on January 16 beginning at 6:30 p.m. “Every Body Has a Story: A Night with Nebraska Writers Collective” will feature Nebraska writer Sam Lee alongside the members of the collective. KANEKO Gallery will be hosting the Nebraska Writers Guild once again in March for a student workshop.
