Gallery 1516 to Host Nebraska Biennial This Fall

June 25th, 2025

For the past 10 years, Gallery 1516 has served as a cornerstone of Omaha’s cultural scene, providing a venue for Nebraska and regional artists to exhibit their work and engage with the community.

With artist exposure at the forefront, Gallery 1516 will once again host the Nebraska Biennial, a juried exhibition held every two years. The event showcases a diverse range of art, offering the public a rich tapestry of artistic expression. Gallery 1516 Deputy Director Sara Bihlmaier says the biennial brings together artists from various styles, mediums, and backgrounds and showcases their work to the public.

Scheduled for this fall, the 2025 Nebraska Biennial continues the tradition of taking place in odd-numbered years. Gallery 1516 embraced the opportunity to bring the event back, reaffirming its commitment to supporting local and regional artists.

Artists can submit work in a variety of categories, including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, multimedia and digital art. According to Bihlmaier, the possibilities are endless.

The application for the 2025 Nebraska Biennial is open through July 25. For full details on the application process, important dates and submission guidelines, visit gallery1516.org.
