Grammy-Winning Conductor JoAnn Falletta Joins Omaha Symphony

January 29th, 2025

Just when it seemed the Omaha Symphony couldn’t impress audiences further, the organization announced a major addition to its team.

Grammy-winning conductor JoAnn Falletta will join the Omaha Symphony as principal guest conductor and artistic advisor for the 2025-26 season, guiding the orchestra through its leadership transition.

Falletta, currently music director of the Buffalo Philharmonic, is known for championing American composers and has conducted more than 1,700 works, including over 150 world premieres. Her Grammy-winning discography includes more than 135 recordings, and she has led top orchestras worldwide while mentoring emerging talent at prestigious institutions.

Falletta said accepting the invitation to work with the Omaha Symphony was easy, as she has a long-standing relationship with the orchestra. She is eager to support the ensemble through this transition, with a focus on helping it grow and reach new heights.

Outside of conducting, Falletta enjoys playing classical guitar, writing, and cycling.

More information about her work and plans with the Omaha Symphony is available at omahasymphony.org.
