Gallery Spotlights Photography as an Artistic Medium

As an effort to support Nebraska artists, Gallery 1516 developed an exhibition called the Nebraska Biennial in 2017. The goal of the Nebraska Biennial is to create a showcase of the best artwork being created in the state.

After several years, Gallery 1516 decided to widen the scope of this project by creating a complimentary exhibition: the Regional Photography Biennial. Sara Bihlmaier is the Deputy Director of Gallery 1516. She says this extension was done to support all area artists. 

This upcoming biennial focuses on photography as a medium specifically. To be part of the biennial, you must go through the simple application process.

The biennial is a selling exhibition. The goal of this show is to give photography its well-deserved attention as an art. After the application is closed, a blind review process is put in place to select artwork

This exhibition is truly just to give photographers a chance to be in the spotlight. The application to submit work to the 2024 Regional Photography Biennial at Gallery 1516 is open now through July 19. For more information about the upcoming exhibition or the gallery, visit gallery1516.org.
