Titanic Wraps Playhouse’s 100th Season

May 28th, 2025

Based upon the ship that was told to be unsinkable, Titanic the Musical retells the story of the Titanic’s maiden voyage as well as its untimely demise. This story is unlike any other as the characters aren’t just mere characters but are in fact based on the real passengers who were on the Titanic so many years ago. Susie Baer Collins, the director of Titanic the Musical, states, “…every actor plays a person that… was on the ship’s manifest…”

The story is a perfect interwoven melting pot of misfortune and shows that even in the unlikeliest of scenarios, what can go wrong will go wrong. Though this show is a tragedy, it presents the human side of this story. Collins says, “We’re telling the story about ambition and hubris and greed and love and commitment and sacrifice.” This show invites the audience to do more than watch; It asks them to feel.

This show marks a new chapter in the history of the Omaha Community Playhouse as this show will officially signify the end of their 100th season. Collins informs that the Omaha Community Playhouse will be handing off the reins to a new artist team during the coming seasons and the continuing journey of the Omaha Community Playhouse.

Titanic the Musical will be showing from May 30th to June 29th. More information found at omahaplayhouse.com
