Opera Omaha, ‘El Niño, Nativity Reconsidered’
December 4th, 2023
Opera Omaha brings an additional production for this season, presenting “El Nino, Nativity Reconsidered.” This artistic tribute celebrates Latin American poets and the empowering “Voices of Women.”
Soprano Julia Bullock, a prominent member of the production company behind this show, shares her enthusiasm for “El Nino,” stating, “I love returning to it over and over again. The original piece was this massive offering by composer John Adams and Director/Librettist Peter Sellars.”
Bullock, who curated the selections for the performance, views “El Nino” as a portrayal of the duality between the promise of new life and the underlying risk of unexplained violence and sacrifice.
Expressing the challenges and excitement it brings, Bullock compares her work on “El Nino” to any other job she has undertaken. This year, her dedicated efforts bore fruit with a Grammy nomination for Best Solo Vocal Album.
“El Nino, Nativity Reconsidered” will grace Omaha with a single show on Monday, December 11 at 7:30 PM at the Lied Education Center for the Arts at Creighton University. For further details, please visit
