Popcorn Production Puts a Fun Twist on Theater

Popcorn Production brings a unique twist to theater by encouraging audiences to get popcorn. Samantha Desh, an actress with the Popcorn Production Melodrama Company, has been part of this distinct theater experience since the company started in 1993. Performing at Mahoney State Park, they offer a fun spin on traditional theater, with Desh describing their shows as “very different.”

They’ve entertained audiences across Nebraska, including in Omaha, West Point, and Brownville, but have established themselves at Mahoney State Park with annual theater and magic shows.

Zach Wasserman, who handles lights and sound, says their success relies on audience involvement, making the performances enjoyable for kids and adults. For first-time visitors, the theater can be a truly unique experience.

Because Mahoney State Park is so large, Desh says they put up signs to help visitors quickly find the theater.

The fall season of *Knight of the Knave Knight* starts the weekend of Aug. 30 and runs through the third weekend of October. More information is available at melodrama.net.
