Rural Theatre in the Heartland: Lofte Community Theatre Presents One Christmas Eve at Evergreen Mall

December 22nd, 2025

As the shopping season accelerates and the holidays approach, Lofte Community Theatre is presenting its holiday production, One Christmas Eve at Evergreen Mall. The contemporary vignette-style show, written four years ago, seeks to examine the real issues that people may face throughout the holiday season. Kevin Colbert, the director of One Christmas Eve at Evergreen Mall, says, “They’re real people with real problems, real issues, real lives, and I wanted to make sure that they weren’t caricatures, because then what needed to be real would ring false to the audience.” With nostalgic and poignant moments, the show unpacks the baggage behind the holidays that sometimes goes unseen.

Lofte Community Theatre also offers opportunity in rural Nebraska with its 22-person cast. Originally established to bring the arts to rural Nebraska, the theatre—located in Manley—crafts heartfelt entertainment rooted in the heartland. “…each of us working to put together the finest quality entertainment that we possibly can and to uphold the reputation of the Lofte being known for quality and entertainment,” says Colbert.

One Christmas Eve at Evergreen Mall will be showing through December 21. More information can be found at lofte.org.
