‘Sorry, Baby’ Opens at Film Streams’ Dundee Theater for Limited Run
July 24th, 2025
Each year, a few standout films emerge from awards season—the kind that quietly make their mark and leave audiences wishing they’d caught them on the big screen. Starting this week, Film Streams offers that second chance with Sorry, Baby, the critically acclaimed debut feature from filmmaker Eva Victor, now showing at the historic Dundee Theater.
Premiering at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, Sorry, Baby quickly became a favorite among Film Streams’ programming team. Several staff members attended Sundance earlier this year, and even months later, the film remains a topic of conversation—and admiration.
Written, directed, and led by Victor, Sorry, Baby follows Agnes, a graduate student-turned-professor, as she navigates the emotional aftershocks of a traumatic event. The film is as funny as it is poignant, offering a complex emotional landscape that resonated deeply with viewers.
“What really stood out to our team was the film’s tonal balance,” said one Film Streams staffer. “In the throes of the deepest emotions, it’s not strange to feel something opposing… Sorry, Baby captures those complexities without staying too long in any single feeling. It plays like a tapestry of moods that a lot of people will see themselves in.”
Victor’s performance at the center of the film has also drawn strong praise. As both writer and director, they navigate a complex subject with nuance and care—showing deep empathy not only for the characters, but for the audience, too.
That combination—of authentic voice, emotional honesty, and remarkable craft—is what has the Film Streams team so excited about Victor’s future as a filmmaker.
Sorry, Baby opens this Friday at the Dundee Theater for an exclusive engagement. A special preview screening is scheduled for tonight at 6:30 p.m.
