  • Ojuha: Indigenous Connection to Color

KANEKO 1111 Jones St, Omaha, NE, United States

Ojuha: Indigenous Connection to COLOR offers KVNO listeners the kind of rich, layered cultural experience they seek out. Just as classical music carries centuries of tradition, symbolism, and regional voice, so do these remarkable rawhide containers — painted with natural pigments derived from berries, rocks, and plants, and encoded with creation stories, spiritual beliefs, and the distinct artistic traditions of individual tribal nations. For an audience that appreciates the craft and intention behind great art, the technical mastery here is striking: pigments mixed with hide glue, vessels sealed with plant starches and gum fiber, designs precise and meaningful down to every line. This is art made with the same depth of purpose and cultural rootedness that KVNO listeners hear every day in the music they love.
