“Arts For ME!” Bug Installation

On display through September 2, just south of the Founders’ Garden
Monday and Tuesday – 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Wednesday through Sunday – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A collaboration with Therman Statom, KANEKO, Westside High School, Westside Middle School, Millard North Middle School, and Lauritzen Gardens
Students enrolled in the adapted art program, “Arts For ME!”, created their own bug paintings that were then translated to metal, cut, and sandblasted. After production, the students were able to give their bugs personality and movement by bending and painting their sculptures. Students were given voice and choice in their bug creations and were given support by teachers, guest artist Therman Statom, and students from Westside High School, Westside Middle School, and Millard North Middle School, to make their experience one-of-a kind.
In order to share the students’ artistic abilities and increase the awareness and visibility of their work, this swarm of sculptures will be on display at Lauritzen Gardens through Labor Day 2024. We hope you enjoy this amazing exhibit using the beauty of the garden as a backdrop.
