KVNO Fill-in Host
KVNO Fill-in Host
As a child, I would pretend to host radio shows by speaking into the front of my desk fan. Fortunately, technology has progressed, and I sound a lot better on air, now that I’ve got to try the real thing.
I grew up with classical music; my father loved piano, vinyl, and radio. I’ve sang in choirs since childhood, and my mother encouraged my harp lessons. However, I ended up studying English and Theatre in college, falling in love with the power of words and storytelling. I moved to Omaha in 2017 to earn my MFA, and the remarkable arts community kept me hostage.
I work now throughout the Metro, onstage and off, and so I was thrilled to meet the wonderful voices behind KVNO, and learn how to combine my passion for speaking with a love of classical music. Some listeners may recognize my voice from stage performances, including a bevy of Nebraska Shakespeare’s productions. More recently, I’ve been performing the Bard in bars with a band of friends: Old School Shakespeare Omaha, dedicated to creating radically-accessible, insanely-good Shakespeare in local community spaces. Favorite roles include Viola in Twelfth Night, Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
As my work with KVNO deepens, I’ve been able to help produce Arts Today and fill-in for some of my favorite voices on air. What a magical thing. From fan to host!
