Icon Writing Workshop

St Benedict Center 1126 Road I, Schulyer, NE, United States

Christian icons have served as “Windows into Heaven” for nearly 2,000 years. Iconography begins with prayer and is executed with the sense that the seven days of creation are being represented in the artistic endeavor. This workshop is an instruction in icon writing in the Byzantine-Russian tradition. Its objective is the completion of one icon, provided attendance for full six (6) days and the completion of daily assignments as allocated by the instructor. For beginning, as well as for intermediate and advanced icon writers.

Spirituality and the Arts

St Benedict Center 1126 Road I, Schulyer, NE, United States

This retreat will engage us in the process of spiritual growth. Through the medium of the arts, we will enhance our intuitive connection to God, experience God’s presence in liturgy, and seek new insights through artistic projects. This year’s program will feature fresh topics and approaches that will appeal to both new and returning participants.
Michael Bauer, DMA, directs the doctoral church music program at the University of Kansas which features courses in the area of the Judeo-Christian tradition and the arts.
