Vesper Concerts Continues Tradition with Returning Violinist Cristian Fatu

For decades, Vesper Concerts has brought world-class chamber music to Omaha, offering free performances that create space for connection, artistry, and community. That legacy continues Sunday, Nov. 7, when Romanian violinist Cristian Fatu returns to the city for an evening of classical brilliance alongside pianist Lolita Alisovskaya-Sayevich.
Fatu began his musical journey in Bucharest at age four, guided by his mother and shaped by Romania’s rigorous musical education system. A full scholarship to Park University in Kansas City in 2006 opened doors to his professional career in the United States, where he eventually settled in Southern California.
Today, Fatu teaches at several institutions, performs with the Pacific and Long Beach symphonies, and contributes to Hollywood’s studio music scene for film, television, and commercials. His artistry bridges genres, embracing both classical and global influences, though Sunday’s program focuses on the traditional violin repertoire.
The concert will feature Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 8, César Franck’s Violin Sonata in A Major, and John Williams’ Devil’s Dance — a program that spans centuries and styles. Fatu says his approach to performance combines technical mastery, emotional depth, and accessibility, aiming to bring audiences on a journey that resonates beyond the concert hall.
Through his work, Fatu continues to embody Vesper Concerts’ mission of presenting music that inspires and unites the Omaha community.
