Pass the Popcorn: Film Streams Expands Sensory-Friendly Cinema
January 22nd, 2026
Film Streams continues to broaden access to the moviegoing experience in Omaha through its Relaxed Screenings, a program designed to welcome audiences who benefit from a more sensory-friendly environment. These screenings feature lower sound levels, partially raised house lights, and the option to use sensory kits that include headphones and fidget tools.
Upcoming Relaxed Screenings include The Rose Man of Omaha on February 5 and Moulin Rouge! on February 14, offering a range of storytelling styles in a setting that encourages comfort and inclusion. Film Streams is also launching a new Common Senses Festival series, expanding beyond film to immersive art experiences that explore how we engage with sound, light, and space.
More information about Relaxed Screenings, the Common Senses Festival, and Film Streams’ broader accessibility efforts can be found on their website and Accessibility page.
