Looking Ahead: Why 2026 and beyond has me so excited

March 5th, 2026

I’m excited. Truly excited.

In fact, I can’t remember a time in recent years when I’ve felt this energized about what lies ahead for KVNO. The plans unfolding for this year and beyond will bring you more of the classical music you love while deepening our service to this remarkable community.

Here’s a glimpse of what’s ahead:

More local concerts on the air.
Celebrating our rich arts community matters to you—and it matters to us. In 2026, we’ll record and broadcast even more performances by local orchestral and vocal organizations, bringing the sound of Omaha’s stages directly to your home, car, office, or headphones.

Expanded arts coverage.
As a classical music station serving listeners across multiple platforms, KVNO is uniquely positioned to amplify the arts. From Arts Today stories on air and online, to the KVNO Arts Calendar, to Creative Omaha—our video series highlighting the people and places shaping our cultural landscape—we are committed to telling the stories of our arts community. In the coming year, you’ll see that commitment grow in new and exciting ways.

New local programs.
The ripple effects of lost federal funding across public media mean some syndicated programs will no longer be available. But from challenge comes opportunity. In response, KVNO is developing new local programs—created specifically for this community and designed to reflect your interests and values.

More opportunities to gather.
We’ll also host more curated events that bring classical music and culture lovers together. One highlight: Symphonic Connections Live: An Intimate Evening with Ernest Richardson on May 21st. (Have you secured your tickets yet?) These shared experiences deepen the connections that make our community so special.

Stronger community partnerships.
After nearly 54 years on the air, KVNO is a proud legacy institution in the metro. In recent years, we’ve built meaningful partnerships with other legacy organizations—and in 2026, you can expect even more collaborations that enhance your experience of community and connection.

A growing digital footprint.
We will continue expanding our digital reach so new listeners can discover locally curated classical music that reflects and resonates with our community. KVNO isn’t just a frequency—it’s a presence wherever and however you listen.

An exceptional team—and new energy.
I believe KVNO has one of the most talented and dedicated teams in the city. Their passion for bringing you the music and programs you love is extraordinary. We’ve recently welcomed a new team member who will help us reach broader audiences across expanded platforms, ensuring KVNO’s voice continues to grow.

The future of KVNO is rooted in resilience, creativity, and possibility. While challenges remain, I see tremendous opportunity ahead—opportunity to serve you better, to celebrate our arts community more fully, and to ensure classical music continues to thrive in our region.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support, your listening, and your belief in what we do make all of this possible.

2026 is going to be a remarkable year. I can’t wait to share it with you.
